Pie Baking Spectacular

Due to the pouring rain this weekend we were forced to stay inside, so we had an apple pie baking contest (big dorks, I know, but we had SO much fun!). Four entries were made – all incredibly different (mini pies, pie with vanilla bean and cream, etc). I’m proud to admit that my friend [...]

A Weekend in Litchfield County

After another VERY long week at work, I went up to Litchfield County with my roommate and a bunch of our friends for our annual “Weekend in the Woods.” It is entirely relaxing – full of book reading, wine drinking, fabulous meals and great friends.

I can’t believe its Wednesday! I’ve been trying desperately to recover from our weekend on the Vineyard and keep up at work! I’ll be back again next week with some great new music, [...]

Sprouts!

Tis’ the season for brussel sprouts in my house. We simply slice them in half, drizzle them with olive oil, salt and pepper, and then bake them at 400 degrees until they start to burn golden brown. SO delicious!!

For the Love of Chocolate

A few years ago I had the great pleasure of hearing John Scharffenberger give a lecture at Blue Hill Stone Barns. I’ve never been much of a chocolate fan, but it was so interesting to learn about the history of chocolate and the differences between the end product available to us consumers. It was also [...]

Over the past few weeks I’ve been gathering my favorite new Halloween party and decorating ideas. There are just so many amazing ideas out there – how can you ever choose?!
Below: bats from Country Living, pumpkins and crows from Martha Stewart.

Once you’ve got the house decorated, what do you serve? Sweets, of course! Below: cake [...]
